Down to -80 °C (-112 °F) - Precise Temperature Measurement in Cryogenics

Low-Temperature Monitoring with the EE310

Medicines and vaccines are vital for treating diseases and maintaining health. This makes it all the more important to preserve them and provide protection against biological decay. In most cases, cryogenic technology is used for this purpose. Cryopreservation is the process of cooling cells, tissues or other biological constructs to very low temperatures to preserve their structure and function. The objective is to permanently monitor the temperature in the storage containers in order to prevent harmful fluctuations and ensure a constant refrigeration environment.

Low-Temperature Monitoring with the EE310

In the form of the EE310, E+E Elektronik already has a reliable humidity and temperature sensor for demanding applications in the pharmaceutical sector in its product range. For the special requirements of cryogenics, the sensor has now been further developed for a working temperature range down to -80 °C (-112 °F) - without having to compromise on the familiar accuracy.

This version of the EE310 is used, for example, in the field of SARS Covid-19 vaccine storage, where cooling temperatures down to -80 °C (-112 °F) are required.

Remote Probe for Temperatures Down to -80 °C (-112 °F)

A special 6 mm stainless steel temperature probe with an operating range of -80 °C (-112 °F) to 30 °C (86 °F) is available for low-temperature monitoring in cryogenic systems. The probe can be placed directly in the cooling container by means of a cable. Via the EE310's RS485 (Modbus RTU) or Ethernet PoE (Modbus TCP) interface, the measured values can be easily integrated into the refrigeration control system. This ensures that the required cooling temperature is precisely maintained.

Thanks to the remote temperature probe, easy calibration of the measuring device is possible directly on site - another advantage for demanding applications such as cryogenics.

Industrial Process Monitoring with the EE310

In addition to cryogenics, the EE310 is suitable for industrial process monitoring and control, for example in the food industry, in cleanrooms or in climate and test chambers. Other probes for humidity and temperature measurement are also available for this purpose. Furthermore, the EE310 calculates all humidity related physical quantities such as the dew point temperature, frost point temperature, water vapour partial pressure, mixing ratio, absolute humidity or specific enthalpy.

The EE310 is available with a robust IP65 polycarbonate or stainless steel enclosure and is suitable for wall or duct mounting. Remote probes provide additional flexibility in the placement and mounting of the sensor.

An optional 3.5" TFT colour display with integrated data logger function not only enables intuitive operation but also visualises the actual and stored measurement data in graphical form directly on the device.
